Abstract
Liver diseases with their management are well detailed in Ayurvedic texts. Ayurvedic physicians have been successfully treating various liver diseases with Arogyawardhani, Kulaki, Kumariasava, Daruharidra, Kalmegha and other indigenous single and compound drugs. But reports on clinical and experimental trials to evaluate the role of these Ayurvedic drugs are not many. Recently certain clinical and experimental researches bas been conducted in various research institutions. Kulaki has been reported with 95% excellent results in a study on twenty patients of infective hepatitis. It is also reported to have increased biliary output, decreased specific gravity and viscosity of bile with normalization of biochemical constituents of bile in experimental dogs. Two other compounds drugs, Kulaki compound and Arogyawardhani have also showed very encouraging results when clinically evaluated for the treatment of hepato-cellular jaundice, chronic hepatitis, viral hepatitis and certain other hepato-biliary diseases. Daruharidra and Kumariashava have also exhibited remarkable results when evaluated for the treatment of hepatocellular jaundice. Recently Kalmegha was tried in twenty patients of infective hepatitis with 80% cure rate. These advances are over-all encouraging and certainly invite the attention of specialized therapists and researchers of this field.

Key words: : Liver diseases, Jaundice, Arogyawardhani, Kulaki, Kumariasava, Daruharidra, Kalmegha, Post Hepatitis Syndrome
