Abstract
Abstract: Introduction: Ayurvedic medicines have a long therapeutic history and are still serving many of the health needs of a large population of the world. Quality of a drug or a formulation depends upon its processing and applications. It is essential to fix some standards for manufacture of drugs so that the genuineness of the drug is not compromised. There have been concerns regarding the safety and efficacy of Ayurvedic drugs mainly which contain minerals. Materials and Methods: Rajahpravartini vati, which has been claimed to be efficacious in Kashtarthava, and also in Nashtarthava was prepared for the present study and analyzed for quality control checks, on the parameters described in Ayurvedic texts as well as modern technology. The ancient methods of organoleptics were conducted and the modern parameters like XRD, SEM_EDX, FTIR and Particle size were done to find out the nature and form of the drug prepared. Results: After analysis, it was inferred that the drug reduced in Particle size.The XRD Peaks of RPV-BB (Rajahpravartini vati- Before Bhavana) showed totally 12 peaks at different angels (2è) from 16.23 to 45.02.Out of 12 peaks 10 strong peaks were matching with standard peak values and Peaks of RPV-AB (Rajahpravartini vati- After Bhavana) showed totally 6 peaks at different angels (2è) from 26.49 to 33.60.Out of 6 peaks, 6 strong peaks were matching with standard peak. In SEM-EDX major and minor elements were found.in FTIR showed the presence of different functional groups like Phenols, Alkanes, Alkenes, Aromatics, Chloride and etc. Conclusion:In XRD peaks of RPV were matching to standard drug, SEM-EDX showed increase in Iron% and decrease in Carbon %, presence of functional group in RPV and after Bhavana particle size is reduced.
