The cytotoxic, biochemical and anti- tumor properties of Camel urine (CU) were evaluated in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cell-bearing mice. the anti-tumor activity of CU was evaluated on the bases of cytotoxicity and viability of EAC and their nucleic acid, protein, malondialdehyde and glutathione concentrations in addition to observations on survival of treated animals. tumors grown at the site of inoculation were evaluated for histopathological changes. The results obtained in EAC cell-bearing mice revealed the cytotoxic, biochemical and anti-tumor activity of CU to be close to that of the provency to toxic drug Cyclophosphamide (CP). Our results on the cytotoxicity and viability of some of the known constituents of CU (creatinine, adenine, and urea) revealed creatinine to be highly cytotoxic. The anti-tumor activity observed in the present study may be due to creatinine as one of the cytotoxic constituents of CU. The cytotoxic and antioxidative potentials of CU observed in the present study warrant further investigation on the active constituents of CU and their mode of action and safety before any consideration for clinical trials.
